About me
Gaetano Livornese.
I am Gaetano, an aerospace engineer who graduated from the Politecnico di Milano. As head of the GNC department — guidance, navigation and control — I work on the on-board software that lets a spacecraft know where it is, where it is going and how to correct itself if something goes wrong. I work both on low-Earth-orbit constellations and on deep-space missions, from interplanetary probes to the Moon and asteroids.

I also host a podcast, Attitude Control, where I tell the most fascinating stories of space and space engineering. The way I explain things there — always starting from physical intuition, not from formulas — is the same way I teach.
I have been teaching since 2014: maths, physics, science and computer science for high school and university, as well as preparation for Italian admission tests (TOLC-I/E/F/S, Bocconi, medicine) — and with our team of affiliate tutors we cover every other subject too, from languages to the humanities. In ten years I have taught more than 215 students, and what I love is turning science subjects from an obstacle into a useful tool — usually it is a matter of finding the right angle, an explanation that starts from how the student thinks rather than from the textbook.
