TIEC practice test — the Cattolica economics test.
48 questions in 60 minutes, 4 sections of 12: Logic, Maths, Reading comprehension and general knowledge, English, with four options per question as in the real test. Official scoring (+1.05 / −0.21) and — the thing other practice tests do not do — the check of the thresholds by section: in the TIEC you can pass 25 points and still be left out if you do not reach 6 correct in one section (4 in maths).
The TIEC is the entrance test for the bachelor’s degree in economics at the Università Cattolica.
Test in Italian, with an English sectionThe questions are in Italian, as in the real exam; the English section is in English.
Note: the TOLC-E has nothing to do with it — Cattolica uses only the TIEC. Rules and dates change: refer to the call for applications on unicatt.it.
Two worked examples from the test
Solution
Solution
Passo 3 — Applico a Marco.
Conclusione. Marco conosce la tecnica del win-win.

Frequently asked questions.
Is the practice test like the real TIEC?
It follows the official structure of the Cattolica economics entrance test: 48 questions in 60 minutes on a single clock, 4 sections of 12 (Logic, Maths, Reading comprehension and general knowledge, English), four answer options per question as in the official demos, scoring +1.05 correct / −0.21 wrong / 0 blank. Above all it calculates the thresholds as in the real test: at least 25 points in total AND at least 6 correct in Logic, in Comprehension+general knowledge and in English AND at least 4 in Maths. Original questions in TIEC style.
Do I need the TOLC-E for Cattolica?
No — it is the most common misunderstanding. For economics Cattolica uses only its own TIEC test: the TOLC-E is neither required nor accepted. The “TIEC + TOLC-E” manuals exist only because the topics are similar.
What is the hardest part?
For most Italian students it is English: it is the only one of the big private-university tests with a marked language section (about B2 level), and with the threshold of 6 correct answers it can keep you out even with an excellent score in the other sections. Maths, on the other hand, is the lightest of the three private-university tests (no trigonometry or analytic geometry).
When is the best time to take the test?
Early: the sittings run from February to September but places are booked by score band and often run out in the first 1-2 sittings. Rules and dates change: refer to the call for applications on unicatt.it.
