Liceo scientifico, classical and technical schools

Maths tutoring for high school.

From the first year to the maturità (Italy's school-leaving exam): 1-to-1 video lessons that start from your exercises, your tests and the book you use in class. No standard syllabus, but your teacher's syllabus.

Who it is for

The students I work with

  • Catching up a failed subject at the first September resit, with a dedicated lesson plan and a simulated practice test.
  • Revision before a test on the topic your teacher is covering now: equations, geometry, trigonometry, derivatives.
  • The maturità for the liceo scientifico: practice papers for the second exam and structured revision.
  • Students from classical, languages and technical schools who struggle to keep up with the "minor" subject that weighs a lot on their average.
A typical lesson

How it works

  1. You send in advance the exercise, the corrected test or your teacher's notes.
  2. In the video lesson we open the shared digital whiteboard and start from your specific problem.
  3. I explain the concept with a concrete example, never with the abstract theory of the book.
  4. Together we solve 3-5 exercises similar to those you will see in the test.
  5. At the end of the lesson you receive notes and diagrams on WhatsApp, ready for next time.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions.

How many hours do I need to make up a failing grade?

For a failing grade in the first term or a 4 on the interim report, 5-8 targeted lessons are usually enough, as long as you also work between lessons on the exercises I set you. For a more serious situation or an end-of-year failed subject, we start from 10 lessons.

Do we work on the homework my teacher sets?

Yes, in fact it is the most effective way. Send me in advance the exercises of your test, photos of your homework or the PDF of the paper: we build the lesson around those specific exercises, not around an abstract syllabus.

Do you help with the second exam of the maturità?

Yes, I prepare students for the second exam of the liceo scientifico with full practice papers from the official papers of recent years. We work both on the problem (calculus + geometry) and on the quick questions, with a focus on time management and correct mathematical writing.

My child goes to a liceo classico: does it still apply?

Of course. At the classical school maths gets fewer hours, but the syllabus is similar to the scientific one until well into the first two years. I adapt the level and depth of the exercises to the class's actual syllabus.

Do you also do last-minute tutoring before a test?

Yes, it happens often. If you tell me 2-3 days ahead we can fit in 2 intensive revision lessons. If it is 24 hours before, one strategic lesson focused on the type of exercises you will get, avoiding the urge to "study everything".

Shall we start from your next test?

A 30-minute introductory call is free: we work out where you are stuck, I propose a plan tailored to you, and we only carry on if I convince you.
