Physics

Online physics tutoring.

Physics becomes difficult when it is presented as a collection of formulas. In my lessons we always start from the real physical problem: what happens, why it happens, and only then do we move into the maths that describes it.

Physics tutoring for high school → University tutoring →

Physics lessons are taught by Gaetano Livornese (aerospace engineer, Politecnico di Milano) and by selected tutors.

Who it is for

The students I work with

  • Liceo scientifico students who want to approach physics with a method, from the third year to the maturità.
  • Students at technical institutes with applied, technical physics syllabuses.
  • University students in Physics 1, Physics 2 or General Physics in engineering and science faculties.
  • Students preparing for admission tests with a physics section (TOLC-I, medicine, science tests).
A typical lesson

How it works

  1. Before the lesson you send me the exercise or chapter that is holding you back.
  2. We rebuild the physical phenomenon with a drawing and a force diagram.
  3. We identify the conservation principles and the useful equations.
  4. We solve step by step, checking dimensions and orders of magnitude.
  5. We tackle variants of the same problem to consolidate the method.

University

Physics at university.

Physics 1 and Physics 2 for engineering and science faculties, applied physics for those who meet it as a separate course, and support on the more theoretical courses of the first two years.

Applied physics (applied thermodynamics, heat transfer, thermodynamic cycles) is one of the subjects I work on most for engineering: it is a course in its own right, separate from Physics 1, and it often happens that students coming from a high school without a science track have never met it before. I also cover rational mechanics and the systems dynamics courses of the first two years, with the same method: first the phenomenon, then the equations.

How to make up a failed physics subject.

A failed physics subject is tackled like a failed maths one: not by revising the whole syllabus, but by isolating exactly what the catch-up exam will ask and working on that.

How it works

From the first call to the first lesson.

  1. Free introductory call

Half an hour on the phone, no commitment: tell us where you are and what you need to prepare for.

  2. A tutor and a plan that fit

We suggest the tutor and the plan that best suit your subject, level and deadlines.

  3. Online lessons, one to one

On a video call with a shared digital whiteboard, at least 60 minutes long, at times that suit the tutor.

  4. Notes after every lesson

You receive personalised notes and summaries, and you can message your tutor on WhatsApp when you are stuck.

FAQ

Physics: frequently asked questions.

Do you offer online physics tutoring?

Yes, all lessons take place online by video call with a shared digital whiteboard: it works for high school, for Physics 1 and 2 at university and for making up a failed subject. The physical base is in Milan, but the vast majority of students join from home, all over Italy.

Can lessons also be held in person in Milan?

Gaetano and the team are based in Milan, but the standard format is online: it lets you choose the most convenient time and record the lesson. If you prefer in-person, message me on WhatsApp and we will see whether it can be arranged for your area.

Do you also cover Physics 1 and Physics 2 at university?

Yes. Physics 1 (mechanics of the point and of systems, thermodynamics) and Physics 2 (electrostatics, circuits, magnetism, induction) are among the university subjects I work on most, with free 20-question practice exams for both.

Do you also do applied physics?

Yes. Applied physics (applied thermodynamics, heat transfer, cycles) is a course in its own right, separate from Physics 1, typical of engineering, and it often happens that students coming from a high school without a science track have never met it before. I also cover rational mechanics and the systems dynamics courses.

How much does a physics lesson cost?

You will find up-to-date rates and packages on the Pricing page. Payment is always offline, and no card is ever saved on the site. The easiest way to start is to book a lesson or a free 30-minute introductory call.

Do you help with liceo scientifico physics problems?

Yes, they are the kind of problems I see most often. We work on the setup (force diagram, reference frame, conservation laws) even before the formulas, because that is where most students get stuck.

Do you also do lab experiments?

Not in a physical lab, but we analyse together the data from the experiments done at school: lab reports, error calculation, graphs and interpreting the results. It is often the part that weighs the most on grades.

How long is a lesson?

A lesson lasts at least 60 minutes. On request we can also do 90-minute or 2-hour sessions, useful at university or when you need a long block before a test.

How do I book the first lesson?

The easiest way is to book the free introductory call from the booking page, or to send a WhatsApp message. After the call we agree on a tutor and a plan; lessons are then booked from your personal area or on WhatsApp, in the tutor’s free slots.

How does the free introductory call work?

It is a free 30-minute phone call with no commitment: together we work out where you are, what you need to prepare for and how much time you have, and we suggest the tutor and the plan that suit you best.

Who is tutoring for?

For secondary-school and university students: from catching up after a failed subject or a low grade to preparing for an exam or an Italian admission test (TOLC, Bocconi, LUISS, Cattolica and others).

Ready to start?

Message me on WhatsApp or book a free introductory call: together we find out where you are stuck and I propose a concrete plan.
