How to use these practice tests
Take them once the syllabus is finished, not during the semester: the value of a test that mixes everything lies in forcing you to recognise the type of exercise before solving it, and you cannot do that if half the topics are still unseen.
Respect the penalty: −0.25 on a random answer is not a detail, it is the rule that separates an honest score from an inflated one. If at the end you have many blanks on a single chapter, that is the chapter to go back to; if instead the mistakes are scattered but all in calculation steps, the problem is speed under time, which you train by retaking the test — the questions are drawn at random, so every run is different.
Frequently asked questions.
Why one test per course instead of a quiz per topic?
Because that is how a real university exam works: a Calculus 1 exam does not ask only about limits or only about integrals, it mixes them all in the same paper. A test that mixes the topics also trains you to recognise what type of exercise it is before solving it — the hardest part of a real exam.
How does the scoring work?
As in the TOLC (the Italian university admission tests): +1 point for a correct answer, −0.25 for a wrong answer, 0 for a question left blank. It is scoring “with a penalty”: you should answer only when you are reasonably sure, exactly as in a real multiple-choice exam.
Do I see the solution to every question?
Yes, always the correct answer, whether you answered right or wrong: we send it to you by email with your score, for free — with an account you see it straight away on this page. The step-by-step explained solution unlocks with your first lesson — the idea is that you can always check what you got wrong, and understand the full reasoning when you decide to go deeper with me.
Does the test cover my university’s programme?
It covers the common core: what practically every Calculus 1, Calculus 2, Linear algebra, Geometry, Statistics, Probability, General chemistry, Physics 1 and Physics 2 course asks in its exam, whatever the university. The parts that really vary from one course to another — an extra theorem, a different formalism, an optional chapter — are not there. Compare the topic list with your own syllabus: if most of it matches, the score is a fair indication.

If a course is still weak
The test shows you where the gap is; filling it is the part where I can help. The first call is a free diagnostic: we look at your results together and I tell you honestly how many lessons you need and on what.
These practice exams are for first-year courses at Italian universities: each test mixes every topic of the course, as a real exam does.
