Tutoring for the liceo scientifico.
The liceo scientifico (Italy's science-focused high school) is not something to tackle one subject at a time: maths, physics and science are woven together from the first year to the maturità. I work both with students who need to make up a failing grade and with students who want to go from a 7 to a 9, from the first two years to the fifth, with 1-to-1 online lessons. With our team of affiliate tutors we also cover Latin, English and the other high school subjects, so you can cover the whole curriculum in one place.
Maths, physics and science are all connected.
The students I work with
- Catching up a failing grade in maths, physics or science, even more than one together, or in another high school subject (Latin, English, history…) thanks to the team, before the next test or the September resit.
- Going further for students who have already passed and want to go from a 7 to a 9, arriving more confident at the maturità.
- The first two years: students who need to build solid foundations from the first year, before gaps pile up.
- The last three years and the maturità: students preparing the second maths paper, the physics oral and the fifth-year astronomical geography.
The subjects are woven together
- The trigonometry of maths is the same you resolve in physics on the inclined plane.
- The gravitation of third-year physics is the same behind Kepler's laws in fifth-year astronomical geography.
- The proportions of maths come back identical in chemistry stoichiometry.
- We work subject by subject when needed, but we always point out these links: they help you remember better and save study time.
The science-track path, year by year.
- First two years (Years 1-2)
- Maths: equations, inequalities, Euclidean geometry and first steps in trigonometry, the foundations on which the last three years are built.
- Physics: physical quantities, kinematics and the three laws of dynamics.
- Science: general chemistry and basic biology.
- Both for students who need to make up a failing grade and for those who want to start with a solid method from the first year.
- Last three years and the maturità (Years 3-5)
- Maths: from analytic geometry to exponential functions, up to limits, derivatives and integrals for the second paper.
- Physics: energy and conservation laws, thermodynamics, up to electromagnetism and the fifth-year Maxwell equations.
- Science: fifth-year astronomical geography, the chapter that links physics and astronomy ahead of the oral.
- Both for students who need to make up a failed subject and for those aiming at a high score ahead of the university admission tests.
Frequently asked questions.
Do you also work with students who are already doing well and want to improve, not only those who are behind?
Yes. Many liceo scientifico students contact me already with a comfortable pass and want to go from a 7 to a 9, or to arrive more confident at the second paper and the oral. The work is different from catching up: less filling gaps, more consolidating method and practising higher-level problems.
Can I choose just one subject, or do I have to take the whole science path together?
You can choose just one subject (maths, physics or science), and the dedicated high school pages on maths and physics have the full syllabus year by year. Many students ask me for several subjects together because, especially in the last three years, maths and physics often go to catch-up in the same period. If you also need Latin, English or another high school subject, the team of affiliate tutors covers those too.
Does it make sense to start in the first two years if the liceo scientifico is "going fine for now"?
Yes, and it is the moment when I see the best results. The basics of algebra, geometry and kinematics from the first two years are what the whole of the last three years is built on: students who reach the third year with a solid method find it far easier when the syllabus gets more complicated.
I have a failed subject in more than one science subject together: what do we do?
It often happens that maths and physics are failed in the same year. For that specific case I have a dedicated page on maths and physics catch-up, with a plan targeted on the September exam; if the failed subject also involves science, we put it in the same plan.
After the liceo scientifico I want engineering or medicine: do you also help with the admission test?
Yes. Many liceo scientifico students I work with go on to preparation for the admission tests (the TOLC-I for engineering, medicine admission and the other TOLC tests), because the maths, physics and science syllabus of the last three years is already the basis of those tests.
Do you have a failed subject to make up by September? I have a dedicated page on maths and physics catch-up, with a targeted plan over a few weeks. For the full syllabus subject by subject, see the high school pages on maths and physics.
Where do you want to restart from?
A 30-minute introductory call is free: together we work out where you are, catching up or going further, and build the most suitable plan.
