HU Admission Test practice test, the Humanitas test for Medicine in English.
EnglishThe questions, answers and solutions of this simulator are in English, as in the real exam.
Same six subjects, same questions per subject, same total time per block and same scoring by section as the HU Admission Test, the admission test of Humanitas University for Medicine and Surgery in English and for MEDTEC, entirely in English. Questions, options and marking are in English, as in the real test. One difference: in the real test each block of two subjects has a single clock, here each subject has its own. The correct answer to every question and your weak topics arrive by email for free; with an account you see them straight away here, together with the score, which is already on the page for everyone. The guided step-by-step solution unlocks with your first lesson.
For international applicants: this free practice test mirrors the structure of the Humanitas University HU Admission Test for Medicine and Surgery in English and MEDTEC: Scientific Thinking, Academic Literacy, Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics, 10 questions each, with the scoring of the call. The questions are original, not the real ones. Results and full solutions are emailed to you.
| Section | Questions | Minutes |
|---|---|---|
| Scientific Thinking | 10 | 20 |
| Academic Literacy | 10 | 25 |
| Biology | 10 | 15 |
| Chemistry | 10 | 20 |
| Mathematics | 10 | 20 |
| Physics | 10 | 20 |
The practice test has 60 questions in total · 120 minutes · 5 options per question · each subject separately timed, with no going back. The minutes per subject are ours and indicative (Scientific Thinking 20 + Academic Literacy 25, Biology 15 + Chemistry 20, Mathematics 20 + Physics 20): each block adds up to the minutes of the call. Original questions in the style of the test, not the real ones; there is no official public paper, so the level is declared by us, not calibrated. The Academic Literacy passages are about 670 words, the call says about 700. Each subject draws from a much larger pool than a single test needs, so two consecutive practice tests do not look alike.
Scoring and minimums
- Three blocks of two subjects: Scientific Thinking + Academic Literacy (45 minutes), Biology + Chemistry (35 minutes), Mathematics + Physics (40 minutes); 60 questions with five options, 120 minutes in all.
- Points per correct / wrong / blank answer: Scientific Thinking and Academic Literacy 22 / −5.5 / 0; Biology and Chemistry 16 / −4 / 0; Mathematics and Physics 10 / −2.5 / 0. Maximum 960 points.
- Minimums in the call, per block: 88 points in Scientific Thinking + Academic Literacy, 64 in Biology + Chemistry, 40 in Mathematics + Physics. A candidate under the minimum of even one block is not ranked. The simulator shows no threshold row, because the minimum applies to the score of a block of two subjects.
- Tie-break: first the score in Scientific Thinking + Academic Literacy, then the one in Biology + Chemistry; we did not read the order beyond these two.
- The test exempts you from the B2 English certificate. The call also has 6 reserve questions (12 minutes), used only if an official question is annulled: the practice test has none.
Checked on 29 October 2026 against the Humanitas University EU call 2026/27.
Two worked examples from the test
In a sample of double-stranded DNA, of the bases are guanine. What percentage of the bases are adenine?
Solution
- By base pairing, cytosine is also of the bases, so .
- The remaining is split equally between adenine and thymine, giving adenine.
How many unpaired electrons are there in the ground-state ion ()?
Solution
- Neutral iron is . The electrons are removed first, then one electron: .
- Five electrons occupy the five orbitals singly (Hund's rule), so all five are unpaired.
- Four unpaired electrons is the value for and for neutral iron.
In the online practice test you will find 58 more questions like these; the correct answer to every question arrives by email.
Frequently asked questions.
What is the HU Admission Test?
It is the proprietary admission test of Humanitas University (it is not the IMAT) for Medicine and Surgery in English and for MEDTEC. It is taken entirely in English, at home, with remote proctoring. Places, dates and requirements are set by the Humanitas call: always check that. The comparison with the IMAT, UniSR and the other tests in English is in the Medicine in English guide.
What is the structure of the test?
60 questions with five options (only one correct) in 120 minutes, in three timed blocks: Scientific Thinking + Academic Literacy (10 + 10 questions, 45 minutes), Biology + Chemistry (10 + 10, 35 minutes), Mathematics + Physics (10 + 10, 40 minutes). Scientific Thinking covers mathematical, procedural and visual thinking; Academic Literacy uses texts on scientific topics at C1 level and about 700 words. The rest is high-school science and maths. In the practice test each subject has its own clock.
How is it scored?
Each block has a different weight: 22 points per correct answer (−5.5 per wrong one) in Scientific Thinking and Academic Literacy, 16 (−4) in Biology and Chemistry, 10 (−2.5) in Mathematics and Physics. The maximum is 960. For each block the call sets a minimum (88, 64 and 40 points): under one of them you are not ranked. In every block the penalty is a quarter of the reward, so an answer given at random is worth zero on average. The simulator computes the total and the points of each subject; the block minimums are in the list above.
How hard is it?
Each subject is only 10 questions, but the weight in points of Scientific Thinking and Academic Literacy (about 46 %) is higher than their weight in questions (a third). The science level is that of a good scientific high school, with maths up to trigonometry, analytic geometry and probability, and physics that includes thermodynamics and electromagnetism. There is no official public paper: the questions in this practice test are original and the level is the one we declare, not a calibration on the real test.
When is the HU Admission Test held?
For 2026/27 the EU rounds were on 5-6 March and 18-20 March 2026, with registration from 18 November 2025 to 26 February 2026; the best score of the two rounds counts. The 2027/28 call was not yet published when we checked, on 29 October 2026. We did not read the call for non-EU candidates. Always check the Humanitas call before you apply.
What do I see at the end of the practice test?
The correct answer to every question and your weak topics arrive by email for free; with an account you see them straight away here, together with the score, which is already on the page for everyone. The guided step-by-step solution unlocks with your first lesson.
