Filter semester practice test: chemistry, physics and biology in three separate exams.
Three exams of 50 minutes each, one per subject — Chemistry and biochemistry prerequisites, Physics, Biology — on the official filter-semester syllabus, not on the old TOLC-MED format. At the end of each section you get the correct answer to every question and the breakdown by topic by email; with an account you see them straight away on this page. The guided solution unlocks with your first lesson.
The filter semester is the way into Medicine, Dentistry and Veterinary degrees in Italy since 2025/26: three university courses, each ending in a national exam.
Test in ItalianThe questions of this simulator are in Italian, as in the real exam.
| Subject | Questions | Minutes |
|---|---|---|
| Chemistry and biochemistry prerequisites | 21 | 50 |
| Physics | 21 | 50 |
| Biology | 21 | 50 |
Three sections timed one after the other, 50 minutes each, no going back to the previous section — like the three real exams. Scoring as set by the decree: +1 correct · −0.1 wrong · 0 blank. The official exam has 31 questions per subject (21 multiple choice + 10 completion); this practice test has 21 multiple-choice questions, drawn at every attempt from a larger bank — completion questions cannot be reproduced in a multiple-choice quiz.
Two worked examples from the test
Quale di queste strutture è presente in una cellula di Escherichia coli ma NON in un epatocita umano?
Solution
Regola.
Solution
Regola. Per un dato il numero quantico secondario può valere , e il magnetico .
Perché qui. Con il valore massimo di è 2: è vietato, qualunque sia . Tutte le altre terne rispettano entrambe le condizioni (per esempio , ammette da a ).
In the online practice test you will find 61 more questions like these; the correct answer to every question arrives by email.
How the 2026/27 filter semester works
Since 2025/26, entry to Medicine, Dentistry and Veterinary Medicine goes through the filter semester: open enrolment (within the number of places) on Universitaly and attendance of three 6-credit (ECTS) courses — Chemistry and biochemistry prerequisites, Physics, Biology — with two sittings per subject and a national merit ranking.
2026/27 sittings: 10 December 2026 and 11 January 2027, at 11:00. Each exam lasts 50 minutes and has 31 questions per subject (21 multiple choice + 10 completion questions) — no logic, general knowledge or English section. Structure, duration and number of questions are set by DM MUR no. 941/2026 (art. 7); the dates by DD 249/2026.

Frequently asked questions.
Does this practice test really replicate the filter semester?
In structure, yes, more closely than the TOLC-MED practice test: it is three separate 50-minute exams, one per subject, exactly like the three real exams (Chemistry and biochemistry prerequisites, Physics, Biology). The difference from the official format is that the real exam has 31 questions per subject — 21 multiple choice and 10 completion — while here there are the 21 multiple-choice questions per subject (five options, as in the real exam): completion questions cannot be reproduced in a multiple-choice quiz, and we say so openly instead of pretending it is the same thing.
What score does this practice test give?
The one set by the decree (DM MUR no. 941/2026, art. 8): +1 point for every correct answer, 0 for every blank, −0.1 for every wrong answer. In the real exam the maximum is 93 points across the three exams and you need at least 18/30 to pass each one. Here you only get the 21 multiple-choice questions of each subject, so the maximum per subject is 21 points: the number you see is there to show you where you stand, it is not your official mark.
What are the questions based on?
On the official filter-semester syllabus (DM MUR no. 941 of 10 July 2026, art. 7), the same one we fact-checked in our articles on filter-semester chemistry, physics and biology. The questions are original, written and checked one by one — they are not copied CISIA or ministry questions.
What is the difference from the TOLC-MED practice test?
The TOLC-MED practice test follows the old CISIA format (50 questions, a single 90-minute clock, 5 options per question, scoring +1/−0.25) — it stayed online at that address because the subjects overlap and "tolc med" is still what people search for, but it is not the official format of the filter semester. This page is the practice test designed from scratch for the filter semester: three separate 50-minute exams, 5 options per question, scoring +1 / −0.1 / 0 as set by the decree.
Can I retake the practice test more than once?
Yes. At every attempt the 21 questions of each subject are drawn from a larger bank (over 60 per subject), shown in a different order, and the answer options also change position — you do not memorise "the right letter", you have to recognise the content. If you close the page halfway through a section, the test resumes where you left off.
What if my score is low in one subject?
That is why the practice test exists: at the end of each section you see the breakdown by topic, so you know where to focus the last weeks before 10 December. If you would like a hand, the first call with me is a free diagnostic on your results.
Want to be ready for 10 December?
The practice test shows you where you lose points, subject by subject; in lessons we work exactly there, with a timed practice test every 3–4 lessons. Write to me for a free diagnostic on your results.
