INVALSI maths is the national standardised test run by INVALSI that Italian students take in their final year of high school: taking it is required for admission to the maturità, Italy’s school-leaving exam, but it does not count towards the final grade.

Area What it covers
Numbers scientific notation, percentages, radicals, proportions
Space and figures analytic geometry, trigonometry, solid geometry
Relations and functions quadratic equations, exponentials and logarithms, limits, derivatives
Data and prediction statistics, probability, combinatorics

25 questions drawn from a bank of 80 · 120 minutes · no penalty (blank = wrong = 0 points). Original INVALSI-style questions, checked one by one.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions.

What is the Year 5 INVALSI maths test?

It is a national computer-based (CBT) survey, not a class test: it checks the level reached across four areas of the official “framework” — Numbers, Space and figures, Relations and functions, Data and prediction — on a Year 5 syllabus (basic calculus, analytic geometry, trigonometry).

Does the INVALSI test count towards the maturità grade?

No. For Year 5 classes it is a requirement for admission to the final state exam — you must have taken it, no minimum score is needed — but it does not enter the maturità grade or the school average. It is certified separately in the student’s record.

When is the Year 5 INVALSI test held?

In spring, before the final state exam, in a window decided every year by the Ministry. The official 2027 calendar comes out on invalsi.it: we do not give dates here that might change.

What does it mean that the test is “CBT”?

Computer Based Testing: the real test is taken on a computer, with a calculator and drawing tools built into the testing software. This practice test reproduces the same style of questions and the same time allowed, but draws 25 questions from a bank of 80, not from the adaptive national pool used by the real test.

What do I see at the end of the practice test?

The correct answer to every question and your weak topics arrive by email for free; with an account you see them straight away here, together with the score, which is already on the page for everyone. The guided step-by-step solution unlocks with your first lesson.
