Are you at an international school and need to prepare for the IELTS or Cambridge alongside maths or physics in English? There is a dedicated page on science subjects studied in English: they are two different paths and can be followed in parallel.

Who it is for

Who this path is for

  • University students and recent graduates who need the IELTS for a master's abroad, an Erasmus+ programme or a UK/Australia study visa.
  • Professionals and adults who want a permanent Cambridge certificate (B2, C1, C2) for their CV or for company requirements.
  • Students who already have a good level but have never studied the exam format and want a strategic path to maximise their score.
  • Students who have already sat the exam once and want to retake only the sections where they lost the most (typically writing or speaking).

FAQ

IELTS and Cambridge: questions.

IELTS or Cambridge: which do I choose?

It depends on your goal. The IELTS is required for immigration, study visas and access to Anglo-Saxon universities (UK, Australia, Canada), and it has to be renewed every 2 years. Cambridge (B2, C1, C2) is a permanent certificate, recognised by companies and universities in Europe, and it does not expire. If you do not have a precise target yet, we talk about it during the introductory call and help you choose the one most useful for your path.

How long does it take to prepare for the exam?

With an adequate starting level (B2 for those aiming at C1, C1 for those aiming at C2) you can build solid preparation in 2-4 months with steady weekly lessons. For the IELTS, anyone aiming at a band 7+ from an initial B2 needs at least 8-12 weeks of targeted work. The critical factor is independent practice between lessons: the lesson alone is not enough, you need to do mock tasks every day.

Do you do real practice exams?

Yes, practice exams are a central part of the path. We do full mock exams in real conditions (stopwatch, official format, no help), then devote the next lesson to a detailed debrief: where you lost points, why, and which technique to use next time. For speaking, Claudia plays the examiner and marks according to the official criteria (fluency, lexical resource, grammatical range, pronunciation).

Do you correct writing tasks with detailed feedback?

Always. Every writing task you bring is corrected with line-by-line annotations: structure, cohesion, register, vocabulary, grammar. You receive an improved version and an explanation of the reasoning behind each correction. The aim is not to give you the right answer, but to help you understand how to think the text in English. Over time this lowers the number of systematic mistakes and raises your band/grade steadily.

I already have a B2 certificate. Does it make sense to aim straight for the C1 Advanced?

It depends on how solid that B2 is. A B2 First taken with a good margin (170+) is a good starting point for the C1 Advanced. If it was borderline, it is better to do a consolidation level first. Claudia always assesses your real level at the start: we do not rely only on the previous certificate.
